Today the Devarenne Lab had a paper published in PLoS ONE that describes our efforts using peptide microarrays to identify phosphorylation substrates for Adi3. The study is part of former graduate student Incheol Yeo‘s thesis studies.
Today the Devarenne Lab had a new paper published in Algal Research. The paper is a collaboration with the lab of David Stern at the Boyce Thompson Institute and it describes our efforts to express the B. braunii race B hydrocarbon biosynthesis genes in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii
The paper published by the Devarenne Lab with the lab of Dr. Arum Han about the development and use of a droplet microfluidic screening device for algae has been downloaded over 1,000 times from Plant Direct. This put the study in the top 20 downloaded papers in 2017 from the journal.
Today the Devarenne Lab had a paper published in Biochimica et Biophysica Acta – Protein & Proteomics describing the identification and in vitro characterization of a new α-subunit of the tomato SnRK1 complex called SnRK1.2. The study characterizes the differences in kinase activity for SnKR1.2 as compared to the previously characterized α-subunit SnRK1.1. These studies were led by former graduate student Dongyin Su.
The Devarenne lab recently had a new review paper published in Algal Research that reviews recent research advances in the use of microfluidics for algal biotechnology research. This review was headed by Dr. Arum Han.
The Devarenne Lab recently had a paper published in Algal Research describing the isolation and characterization of the PSAP protein from the B race of B. braunii. PSAP is a highly glycosylated protein found in the extracellular matrix of B. braunii and it may play a role in the biosynthesis of the polysaccharide fibril sheath that surrounds the B. braunii colony. This study was lead by graduate student Mehmet Tatli and was a collaboration with the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the University of Georgia.
Today the Devarenne lab had a new paper published in Plant Direct about our continuing collaborative studies with the lab of Dr. Arum Han. This study features the development and implementation of an algal droplet microfluidics device that can perform high-throughput screens to analyze lipid and biomass production in order to identify mutants of interest from a large mutant population.
The Devarenne Lab recently had a paper published in ACS Chemical Biology describing the amino acids that control substrate and product specificity in the LOS enzyme from the L race of B. braunii. The study details how we identified two amino acids in LOS that control the size of substrate that can fit into the active site. The study was lead by former graduate student Hem Thapa.
The Devarenne lab had another paper published based on our collaboration with the lab of Dr. Edmundo Lozoya-Gloria at CINVESTAV in Irapuato, México. The study titled “ROS detection in Botryococcus braunii colonies with CellROX Green reagent” was published in Bio-Protocol and describes the method Dr. Lozoya-Gloria’s lab developed to detect ROS production in B. braunii.
Today the Devarenne Lab had a paper published in the Journal of Molecular Structure detailing the structural analysis of botryococcenes and methylsqualenes from the B race of Botryococcus braunii using Raman spectroscopy. The study was lead by graduate student Mehmet Tatli.
